Check₂O Aquarium Ammonia 6 0 - 0.5 - 1.0 - 3.0 - 6.0 mg/L NH₃ 25 Strips 341.001

Ammonia is extremely toxic and damaging to aquatic life. Ammonia is excreted by fish through the gills and from the breakdown of organic matter. Ammonia levels in water can also increase with pH’s > 7 and increases in temperature, via conversion from ammonium which itself is relatively nontoxic for aquatic life. Even levels of 0.05 mg/L ammonia can be harmful to fish, whilst levels of 1 mg/L and above pose extremely serious health risks including death. It is recommended that ammonia and ammonium levels in an aquarium should be monitored weekly.
