Standard Qualitative Filter Paper

Standard qualitative filter papers are used for gravity filtration due to the high level of alpha cellulose content. This means that the paper will weaken when wet. This makes this grade of filter paper unsuitable for any form of vacuum filtration.

  • Weight (g/m2) 75
  • Burst Strength (kg/cm2) Light
Grade 301
Grade 301 is a slow filtering paper with a high particle retention capacity. This makes this paper an excellent choice for clarifying liquids from precipitates such as Barium sulphate or Cuprous oxide. Grade 301 is also suitable for filtration applications in soil analysis.

  • Burst Strength (kg/cm2) Light
Grade 302
Grade 302 is thicker than grade 304 and has a slightly higher retention capacity. This makes this paper slightly stronger when wet, making it particularly useful for the filtration of large volumes of liquid. Ideally suited for the filtration of dyes.

  • Weight (g/m2) 85
  • Burst Strength (kg/cm2) Light
Grade 303
Grade 303 is slightly more retentive than grade 304 but has a slower filtration speed. This filter paper has a much higher absorbency which makes it suitable in environmental laboratories for plant growth trails.

Grade 304
The most used filter paper in laboratories or educational settings. A medium retention capacity and flow rate makes this filter paper ideal for many filtering applications.

Grade 305
Grade 305 is an extremely fast filtering paper used for the filtration of coarse particles or gelatinous precipitates such as aluminium or magnesium hydroxides. Grade 305 can also be used for air or gas monitoring where high flow rates are required.
