J-QUANT Chlorine test strips semi-quantitatively measure the free chlorine content of aqueous solutions.
Chlorine is the most popular disinfectant used throughout the world. It is inexpensive and has long lasting effects when used correctly. There is a common misconception that chlorine disinfection solutions use chlorine gas, Cl2 as the active ingredient. The active ingredient is most commonly sodium or calcium hypochlorite and when in solution, hypochlorite anions (OCl-) and hypochlorous acid (HOCl) are most prominent. This concentration is known as free chlorine. It is this free chlorine concentration that the J-QUANT Chlorine test strips measure.
Regulations state that the concentration of disinfection/sanitiser solutions must be monitored to ensure sufficient efficacy. The J-QUANT Chlorine 300, 1000 and 10,000 strips can fulfil this role.
Similar regulations also state that a minimal level of free chlorine should be present on surfaces after the cleaning process. The J-QUANT Chlorine 5 and 20 can measure residual levels of free chlorine on surfaces to ensure compliance with all regulations.
