The J-QUANT Water Hardness test strip range semi-quantitatively measures the water hardness content of aqueous solutions up to 1000 mg/L (ppm).

Water hardness is a term used to quantify the amount of various metallic salts in water. The two main salts that contribute the most towards the hardness of water are calcium and magnesium.

The universally accepted way of expressing water hardness is “as CaCO3”. This term combines all the salts that contribute to water hardness into a single reading.

The units of water hardness can be expressed in many ways depending on the country of origin. Whilst quantifying water hardness in mg/ as CaCO3, it can also be quantified in terms of degrees where 1 degree is equal to 17.848 mg/L of CaCO3.
